# SIA for Gmail

Send candidate emails as yourself, directly from SIA Chat

Without Gmail connected, emails drafted by SIA go out from a generic system address the candidate doesn't recognise, in a thread disconnected from your inbox. Connecting Gmail changes that — SIA sends it as you. Your name appears in the *From* field, the message lands in your *Sent* folder, and any reply comes straight back to your inbox. Candidates never see a no-reply address, and you never lose track of the conversation.

### Connecting Gmail

<figure><img src="https://1117388020-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FGO7J9uIHFkn8y0ZeBqYC%2Fuploads%2FDEkuxSNW1d33LXDrQdmP%2Fgmail-connect-flow%20(1).gif?alt=media&amp;token=f65d9d00-d150-423c-963a-f987aee57b6f" alt=""><figcaption><p>Connecting Gmail</p></figcaption></figure>

* In Chat, open [**Connectors**](https://sia.senseloaf.ai/settings/connectors) from the sidebar
* Find the **Gmail** card and click **Connect Gmail**
* A Google sign-in tab opens — sign in with the account whose Gmail you want SIA to use
* Google shows you exactly what access is being requested (sending and reading email only). Review it and click **Allow**
* You're redirected back to Chat and the card now reads **Connected**

{% hint style="info" %}
NOTE: Google Calendar, Gmail, and Google Drive are each separate connections. Connecting one doesn't grant the others, and disconnecting one doesn't affect the rest.
{% endhint %}

### What you can do once connected

Once Gmail is connected, SIA can handle candidate email the way you'd write it yourself — without retyping the same message each time:

* **Draft emails using a candidate's actual context** — their profile, interview notes, and match score all feed into what SIA writes, so the email isn't generic
* **Send from your own address** — with cc/bcc if needed, and replies threading correctly back into the same conversation
* **Attach the candidate's resume automatically** — no downloading from one place and re-uploading it into an email
* **Save a draft instead of sending right away** — SIA can leave it in your Gmail Drafts folder so you can review, tweak, or send it later
* **Read a candidate's emailed attachments** — for example, a take-home assignment they sent in and assess it as part of their evaluation

#### Try it in SIA Chat

{% prompt description="Invite for an in-person interview" icon="paper-plane-top" openInAIProviders="false" %}

```markdown
Email the top match for {Job Name} to invite them for an in-person interview, with the address and time.
```

{% endprompt %}

{% prompt description="Send rejection emails" icon="paper-plane-top" openInAIProviders="false" %}

```markdown
Draft a respectful and concise rejection email for [candidate_name]
```

{% endprompt %}

{% prompt description="Draft a respectful and concise rejection email for \[candidate\_name]" icon="paper-plane-top" openInAIProviders="false" %}

```markdown
Draft a [type of email] for [candidate_name] about [purpose]. Keep the tone [warm / concise / formal].
```

{% endprompt %}

### A few things to note

**Nothing is ever sent without your approval.** SIA always shows you the finished email — subject, body, and recipients — before it goes out. You review and confirm before anything is sent.

**SIA can't search your whole mailbox.** Reading is limited to a specific candidate's emails. For example, an attachment the candidate sent in.

<figure><img src="https://1117388020-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FGO7J9uIHFkn8y0ZeBqYC%2Fuploads%2Fbrggpk3VBKNBOQyWRgOD%2Fgmail-approve-before-send-v2%20(1).gif?alt=media&amp;token=2a50d96a-0fd8-4ea7-bef5-550003525045" alt=""><figcaption><p>SIA showing the drafted email and waiting for explicit approval before sending</p></figcaption></figure>

### Disconnecting Gmail

1. Go to [**Connectors**](https://sia.senseloaf.ai/settings/connectors) in the sidebar
2. On the Gmail card, click **Disconnect**

This revokes Gmail access immediately. SIA can no longer send, read, or draft anything through your Gmail account until it's reconnected.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.senseloaf.ai/sia-connectors/sia-for-gmail.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
