# SIA for Google Calendar

Book interviews directly from SIA chat. No back-and-forth needed

Without a calendar connected, scheduling an interview means trading emails until a time works for everyone. Connecting Google Calendar lets SIA book interviews outright. It checks your actual availability from your calendar, picks a slot that works, and puts a Google Meet invite on both your calendar and the candidate's, all in one step.

### Connecting Google Calendar

* In Chat, open [**Connectors**](https://sia.senseloaf.ai/settings/connectors) from the sidebar
* Find the **Google Calendar** card and click **Connect Google Calendar**
* A Google sign-in tab opens — sign in with the account whose calendar you want SIA to use
* Review the permissions Google shows you. This request is for calendar access only, it does not touch Gmail or Drive. Click **Allow**
* You're redirected back to Chat and the card now reads **Connected**

{% hint style="warning" %}
NOTE: Google Calendar, Gmail, and Google Drive are each separate connections. Connecting one doesn't grant the others, and disconnecting one doesn't affect the rest.
{% endhint %}

### What you can do once connected

Once Google Calendar is connected, SIA can look at your real schedule and act on it:

* **Show what's already on your calendar** — for a given day or week, so you know what you're working around before proposing anything
* **Suggest concrete free slots within your working hours** — rather than a random time that may conflict with something else
* **Book the interview with a Google Meet link, and email the invite to the candidate** — all in one step, without you creating the event and separately emailing the details
* **Cancel a booking and notify attendees** — if a call needs to move or fall through, SIA can cancel it and let the candidate and anyone else invited know

#### Try it in SIA Chat

{% prompt description="Schedule Interview" icon="calendar-circle-user" openInAIProviders="false" %}

```markdown
Suggest three 30 minutes slots I'm free next week for a first-round call
```

{% endprompt %}

{% prompt description="Schedule Interview" icon="calendar-circle-user" openInAIProviders="false" %}

```markdown
Book Tuesday 3pm with this [candidate_name], add a Meet link and cc [hiring_manager]
```

{% endprompt %}

{% prompt description="Check schedule" icon="calendar-circle-user" openInAIProviders="false" %}

```markdown
What interviews do I have tomorrow?
```

{% endprompt %}

### A few things to note

SIA proposes times based on your real calendar, but checks with you before anything actually books. Nothing is placed on your calendar or sent to a candidate without your confirmation.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.senseloaf.ai/sia-connectors/sia-for-google-calendar.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
